Stephen Lee saddles up Nickelback, Mofeed

Across a big team heading down the freeway, emerging stable star Nickelback is set to lead the stable charge in a benchmark 66 handicap over 1420m.

The well-named five-year-old son of Nicconi and aptly out of the mare Rock Style produced a relative career-high run third-up off a five-week break at Rosehill 16 days ago.

Drawn wide and settling only a few spots from the back in an impressive class 2 Highway line-up, Nickelback motored home late to finish only a bit over a length from high-class sprinters Melody Again, currently a $51 shot in all-in Kosciuszko betting, and Take The Kitty.

That came off a smart class 3 win at Casino two weeks earlier, and from a handy trailing draw at Grafton where he can afford to park closer, Nickelback is set to continue on his merry way.

The stable may even run the quinella with progressive and lightly raced mare Revontulet shooting for a third straight win stepping up in grade from her latest barnstorming BM58 win at home.

Earlier the Lee camp saddles up highly touted three-year-old Mofeed for just his second start in a Country Boosted Maiden Plate over 1420m at set weights A son of UK stallion Akeed Mofeed, he caught the eye on debut at this track only nine days ago when finishing hard from the back over a shorter trip.

Having reportedly trained on well and stepping up to a more likable distance, Mofeed looms as the one to beat.

It might be a big day for Ballina trainers, with Brett Cavanough also taking down a good team, headlined by four-year-old Burnt Butter who rates a serious chance in a BM58 handicap over 1015m.
