Benalla

Race 1. (13:30) Wayne Nichols Maiden (1206m)

#8 – Stellar Mofeed @ $2.35

Stellar Mofeed comes off a third placing at Flemington, so the form checks out at the maiden level.

The three-year-old filly by Akeed Mofeed is knocking on the door of a win, and this race looks right up her alley.

We expect her odds to firm considerably.

Race 3. (14:30) Specsavers Benalla Maiden (1606m)

#2 – Rain Dance @ $4.60

Ran Dance hit the line nicely to finish second at Ballarat last start, which was a tidy form guide.

The five-year-old son of Manhattan Rain was a mile behind the winner, but that should be a solid race for future maiden events.

Punters get each-way odds worth snapping up.

Race 6. (16:00) A Cleeland for Euroa BM64 (1606m)

#4 – Fly Lie @ $3.40

Fly Lie hasn’t done anything wrong this preparation, including a win at Geelong followed by a third placing at Seymour.

The four-year-old son of Sebring hit the line nicely over 1600m, which suggests running over this distance is suitable.

Getting the inside draw helps, and we’re taking the drifting odds.

Race 7. (16:30) Bet365 BM58 (1206m)

#2 – Posh I’m Not @ $7.50

Posh I’m Not is better for three runs this preparation and his best form takes him close.

The lightly tried seven-year-old owns a win and a placing from seven starts, and he’s not taking on much of a field here.

Punters get each-way odds to snap up.

Scone

Race 2. (13:40) Yarraman Park Maiden (1200m)

#5 – Hellcibell @ $2.35

Hellcibell ran second on debut at Scone and she wasn’t beaten far by a smart type in Christa.

The four-year-old daughter of Hellbent has plenty of natural improvement in store, and we’re not surprised by the odds.

Barrier two adds to her appeal.

Race 4. (14:50) Inglis Ready2race BM58 (1600m)

#4 – Harlow Mist @ $3

Harlow Mist scored by a half-length on debut as a $9 chance, and the shorter odds were to be expected.

The John Sargent-trained filly could be on an Oaks path, and Sargent has used this path for the spring future before.

A win on Tuesday could see her career take off.

Race 5. (15:25) Castelvecchio @ Arrowfield BM58 (1400m)

#11 – Christa @ $2.30

Christa defeated Hellcibell by a length on debut, so use the earlier race as a form guide.

The four-year-old had good betting support on that occasion, and she looked like a professional type in the making.

The money has come thick and fast since markets opened.

Race 6. (16:05) Victor Ludorum at Darley BM58 (1200m)

#5 – Legolas @ $3.80

Legolas should appreciate the easier opposition after running fourth at Gosford, and it could result in an overdue win.

The Bjorn Baker-trained gelding won a trial at Warwick Farm earlier this preparation, so the natural speed is there.

Getting the inside draw could make the difference, so put him on top.
